Jiggering lathe for insulators

Jiggering lathe for insulators - AKD

Turning ceramic insulators – the AKD series

In addition to extruders for manufacturing ceramic solid and hollow blanks, ECT-KEMA develops lathes for shaping insulators for a wide variety of shield geometries.
These are used in particular for HVDC transmission.

Designed to machine diameters of 200 to 500 millimetres and heights from 500 up to 3000 millimetres, our AKD line can be flexibly used to machine a wide range of blank sizes.
2 blank holders – and a comfortable workpiece changer to ensure a time-saving and trouble-free workflow.
Modern and dynamic servo drives enable optimum power transmission during the machining process.
Efficient, low-backlash guides and spindles ensure precise work results.
Fast software adaption for changing the shield geometry enables a flexible variety of shapes.
